Day 01 | Anamaduwa

Transfer to ‘The Mudhouse’, a jungle lodge that brings you closer to the rural village life and nature. The evening is yours to enjoy. Get acquainted with the rustic abodes, wholesome Sri Lankan food and the calls of the wild. Unwind and prepare for pleasant adventures ahead.

Day 02 | Anamaduwa

With over 130 species documented around the property, Mudhouse is the ideal setting for birdwatchers. Be it amateur or expert you will be sharing a whole morning with vibrant and musical aviators. You will be joined by a professional who appreciates everything bird, powerful binoculars so that you wouldn’t miss a single feather and a bird book to name them all.

The evenings are meant to be dreamy and sensual.  It cannot get any better than kayaking or paddleboarding under a luminous sky with the crickets singing in your ears. The lodge is surrounded by many a lake that you can wade in with your loved ones. Unwind to the colours of dusk and the melodies of the nature.

Day 03 | Anamaduwa

Time to exchange paddles to pedals. Cycle to the ancient Paramakanda Buddhist temple to witness the age-old frescoes and cave shelters. Sit on top of the rocks for a 360 degree view of the beautiful surroundings. Close your eyes and experience what ‘on top of the world’ really feels like.

Ride the longer route upon return, taking in the surroundings at leisure. With the evening calling in, it is your turn to prepare a local meal. Unite with the Mudhouse chef to create a culinary masterpiece. Who knows? You might even surprise the professionals.

Day 04 | Wilpattu

If you feel like you didn’t meet all the feathered friends yesterday, this morning is for you. Take a leisurely walk admiring the diverse range of flora and fauna that forms the unique surrounding of the property. Bid farewell to this little gem of a place and head further north towards the vast wilderness of Wilpattu.

Check in to the hotel and spend the afternoon exploring the beautiful property and the complementing neighbourhood.

Day 05 | Wilpattu

Embark on an Early morning safari at Wilpattu, the largest and the oldest national park of Sri Lanka and is a popular ground for sightings of the majestic Sri Lankan big cat. It provides shelter to over 30 other species of mammals such as the elephants, sloth bears, spotted deer, jackals and water buffaloes among many others. Consisting a diverse range of vegetation and waterways Wilpattu hides numerous birds, fish and reptiles making it a paradise for nature lovers. Lose yourself among the game trails, magnificent animals, and the sounds and smells of the wilderness.

Add more of nature to your day with a gentle ride along the beautiful waters of Uppu Aru as the evening comes calling.

Day 06 | Wilpattu

Spend the early morning treading over the popular nature trails. Meet the early greeters, the birds and other little critters who are secretly delighted to be visited by you.

The afternoon is for the wild and the untamed. Peel Wilpattu for more sightings of the Sri Lankan beasts as they wander along the thick jungle. Capture as many memories as possible because you’d rarely come across anything more exhilarating.

 

Day 07 | Kalpitiya

Wake up to the chirping birds and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Time to bid farewell to the wilderness and greet the oceans.

Arrive at Kalpitiya, and you can spend the afternoon with a book in hand by the pool. Kalpitiya is coastal town chock-full of attractions. It varies from diverse and interesting habitats such as bar reefs, mangrove swamps to thrilling encounters with dolphins and whales.

Day 08 | Kalpitiya

Before breakfast float away on a small boat in search of whales and pods of Dolphins who frequent the coast off Kalpitiya. While sperm whales are the most common, six other types of whales including the blue whales are spotted in Kalpitiya

You get to see two types of fish, the majestic whales and the mischievous dolphins. It is no secret that the vision of them playing, spinning and splashing is a sight to relish and cherish.

In the afternoon leave on a short tour visiting the highlights of Kalpitiya such as the Dutch fort, Baobab trees and the fish market. Each one different from the other.

Day 09 | Kalpitiya

A day to relax and wind down.  Put your feet up, enjoy the delicious sea food or pick an excursion option from the assortment of pursuits offered by the hotel.

Day 10

Time really does fly when you are having fun. Ten magical days have passed and it is now time to leave the familiar North West Sri Lanka to return home or to continue on another adventure. You can either fly home with an abundance of memories or be spontaneous and add some more remembrances with us. We like to think it’s the latter, because Sri Lanka is indeed a land like no other.
